If your pet is missing, please call the Walker Animal Shelter at [225] 791-3482 as soon as possible. Provide a photograph if you have one. We will make every effort to reunite you with your lost pet, including alerting the community via our Facebook page to be on the lookout. You can also post fliers and put an announcement online. The Walker Animal Shelter makes every effort to locate new homes for stray and abandoned pets in our care. We routinely collaborate on adoption efforts with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty for Animals in Livingston and other regional rescue organizations. We have extended our hours to include Saturdays for the convenience of families interested in adoption. We hold adoption days in a variety of locations throughout the Capital Region in hopes of making the animals in our care more accessible to the public. And we host an annual Orphan Animal Fun Day in Punk Smith Park with family-friendly activities to draw attention to animals in need of adoption and to educate the public in proper pet care. Animals currently available for adoption are listed on the Walker Animal Shelter Facebook page. To see that listing, click here.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Livingston is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services in our area, including assisting those outside of our city limits seeking to find a new adoptive home for their pet.
